Woodcock diorama by Joseph Q. Whipple
Hand painted 3 dimensional "shadow box" of a woodcock, signed by the artist and executed in connection with a series prepared for sale by Abercrombie and Fitch in the 1940s. Woodcock is sculpted with plaster of Paris and then finely painted. One of a series of 8.
Signed lower right "JQ Whipple"
Framed size 5 x 5 inches
Diorama size approx 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches with glass diameter 3 1/2 inches
Solid green back panel with "Abercrombie & Fitch Co. New York" in gold letters on a sticker at the top of the panel.
