Item Description
This red sequin dress from the original Merrily We Roll Along was made for and worn by Donna Marie Asbury for her role as Terry, but was never seen by an audience because it was cut from the show. It was gifted to Asbury after the show's short run with a note that read: "Only you can wear it." It remained in its box for 42 years - until now.
George Furth and Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along charts the turbulent relationship between composer Franklin Shepard and his two lifelong friends, writer Mary and lyricist & playwright Charley.
The original production opened at the Alvin (now Neil Simon) Theatre on November 16, 1981.
