Item Description

This 40th anniversary deluxe edition Yentl album is signed by the legendary Barbra Streisand. With Yentl, the illustrious Streisand became the first woman to direct, produce, write and star in a major motion picture.

This two-CD set features the original Yentl soundtrack on disc one. The second disc has 15 additional tracks that include demos Streisand recorded in her living room on a stereo cassette deck to get the movie made, while also providing her narration.

Yentl, released in 1993, follows a young woman who is taught by her father in secret, because girls were forbidden to study. After his passing, she begins disguising herself as male to enroll in religious school and continue learning, but falls in love along the way. The film's Academy Award-winning score, composed by Michel Legrand with lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman, includes "Papa, Can You Hear Me?" and "The Way He Makes Me Feel."
