Item Description

Own a one-of-a-kind treasure from one of Broadways most renowned, beloved musicals. The original Broadway production of Les Misérables opened in 1987 and ran for more than 16 years and 6,680 performances. The symbolism of God and religion are strong in Les Misérables - the novel and the musical. For Jean Valjean, the crucifix is a reminder to try to be a good man.

This crucifix from the original Broadway production was a part of the stage design and setting for all 6,680 performances. Since the original production closed, it has been a prized, precious possession of executive producer and associate director Richard Jay-Alexander. Jay-Alexander, a dear friend and champion of Broadway Cares, generously shared this beautiful, rough-hewn crucifix that debuted on The Kennedy Center Opera House stage in its out-of-town tryout, before opening on Broadway at the Broadway Theatre and moving to the Imperial.

This museum-quality crucifix from Les Misérables was for years a treasured possession, now to mean something very special for someone else - you.

This lot also includes a poster from the 10th anniversary performance of Les Misérables.
