The legacy began in 1992 when Jerry Mitchell, acclaimed Tony Award winner and then a member of the Will Rogers Follies ensemble, first danced on the bar at Splash in Chelsea alongside seven fellow dancers. They raised $8,000 in tips and launched a legacy that, through last Junes 32nd extravaganza at Hammerstein Ballroom, have raised more than $28 million for Broadway Cares.

For 14 years, Broadway Bares found a safe and sexy harbor in the middle of Broadway at the legendary Roseland Ballroom. Broadway Bares and Roseland became synonymous. Sadly, Roseland closed in 2014. The loss prompted Broadway Bares to find its new permanent home at Hammerstein Ballroom, a much larger venue that has allowed the event to flourish.

Celebrate the remarkable history of Broadway Bares with this special collection of one-of-kind memorabilia representing the past, the present and the upcoming performance of Broadway Bares on Sunday, June 22, 2025, once again at Hammerstein Ballroom.

1. Everythings coming up Roseland. A pristine never-walked-on 8 x 9 section of the rose-patterned carpet from Roseland Ballroom has now been finished as a beautiful area rug. Miraculously discovered and saved from the wrecking ball by a Bares volunteer, the carpet was created for Roselands refurbishment in 1990 in homage to the original 1956 design of pink and red cabbage roses with green leaves on a black background. Roseland and Broadway Bares history can be yours, under foot as always intended, at home.
2. Bring the art of Bares home with a 7 x 2 black-and-white photograph taken by Rivka Katvan of scores of dancers preparing for 2006s Broadway Bares: New York Strip in the vast dressing area in the basement of Roseland. If those walls could talk. Youll be closely examining this oversized historical account of Bares for years before ever seeing all thats there.
3. Adorn your walls in the letters B A R E S that hung on the stage this year at Broadway Bares: Hit the Strip. Perfect to hang at home or at your Fire Island summer house when stripping for friends. For tips? Your choice.
4. Two VIP tickets to the 2025 edition of Broadway Bares on Sunday, June 22. Attend the dress rehearsal or a private cocktail party at Jerry Mitchells apartment. Then, you and a guest will experience the 9:30 pm show from the floor - just in front of the stage - and stay for the second midnight show to see Broadway Bares from VIP mezzanine seats.
