Item Description

This stately koa keepsake box with a milo finial, stands 6” in height and 2 ¾“ at its widest, was turned from Koke’e koa. Koa, an endemic hard wood, found only in Hawaii is well known beyond our shores. Treasures will be kept safe within and it could also be used as a pet urn.

The heart of the master is felt in every stroke onto the wood.

Ray Nitta is a wood craftsman and artisan residing in Kekaha, Kauai. An erstwhile teacher, he is still active in enrichment programs at various schools on the west side of the island. He has exhibited his work internationally. Ray is a board member of Lawai International Center.

There is a wonderful article about Westside Woodworks by Margaret A. Haapoja in the January 6, 2014 issue of Green Magazine Hawaii.
